How Nandigam Homelab, my personal home-lab automation app, uses the Google account data you allow it to access.
Last updated 5 October 2026
Who this covers
Nandigam Homelab is a private, non-commercial automation service run by Nandigam Vijay Sai on self-hostedn8n in my home lab. It is used only by me and a small number of family members and friends I have invited. It is not offered to the public.
This website, nandigam.in, sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics and serves its fonts itself. Like any web server it keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, browser) for security and troubleshooting.
Google data the app accesses
When you connect a Google account, Nandigam Homelab asks only for the access its workflows need:
- Basic profile (your name, email address and profile picture): to identify which Google account is connected.
- Gmail: to read messages and their metadata so a workflow can act on them (for example, a notification email that switches a device in my home), and, where a workflow you set up does so, to send, label or organise messages.
- Google Calendar: to read your events and to create or update events for reminders and scheduling workflows.
How the data is used
Google data is used only to run the automations the account owner has asked for. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to build profiles of you, and not used to train AI or machine learning models.
Storage and security
- OAuth tokens are stored encrypted in n8n’s credential store, on hardware I own and run at home. The n8n instance is not reachable from the public internet.
- Only I, as the operator, have administrative access to it.
- Email and calendar content is processed while a workflow runs and is not kept in a separate database. n8n’s execution logs can briefly hold the data a workflow handled; they are pruned automatically and kept for no longer than 30 days.
Sharing
Google data is not shared with, sold to or transferred to anyone else. The only exceptions are when a workflow you set up yourself sends data to a service you chose, or when disclosure is required by law. Nobody reads your data except me, and only when you ask me to fix a workflow, when it’s needed for security, or when the law requires it.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Nandigam Homelab’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access and deleting your data
You can remove Nandigam Homelab’s access at any time from yourGoogle Account permissionspage. To have your stored credentials and any logs that mention your account deleted, email me atvsnandigam@gmail.com. I’ll delete them within 30 days and confirm when it’s done.
Children
Nandigam Homelab is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
